Verhoudingen

By literally putting slides on top of each other a new image is formed. The people and places in the images come together and form a new, surreal context.
The title of the work, Verhoudingen, is a Dutch word that has multiple meanings. It can be translated as ‘proportions’, which would be a literal interpretation as the sizes of the two images clash. Another translation is ‘relationships’, the image questions the relationship between the people in the pictures.
